Art Next Project, Lahore, Pakistan, October 2022
October 2022 – It was very exciting to be part of HOME and Beyond an exhibition at Art Next Gallery in Lahore, Pakistan which opened on Oct 27th 2022. Curated by Imran Ahmad @imranahad79 @artnextproject the exhibition was a four person show including myself and wonderful artists Farrukh Addnan, Fatima Saeed and Zaira Ahmad Zaka @farrukhaddnan @fatimasaeed@zairazakastudio_
Farrukh and I met in 2020 while working on the exhibition Landscape of Memory and went on to collaborate on the Ecologies of Displacement project.
Two works selected for the exhibition were from my ongoing project Casser Maison (breaking the house) which refers to a French-Canadian end of life ritual of clearing a house. The project looks at ideas of home and its relationship to landscape, and the progress of time and memory. These paintings were created on residency in Italy at The Museum of Loss and Renewal. Two other works exhibited were created for A Pandemic Imaginary, a residency at Merz Gallery in Sanquhar in Dumfriesshire Scotland.
