Contemporary Landscape Painting

I often work outdoors in places with a past—remote, sometimes abandoned. Painting in the landscape offers solitude and space for improvisation. In the studio, found objects, images, and video serve as aide-mémoires. Through painting, drawing, and imagination, I create stories from materials, and mark-making. The narratives and imagery which appear, are also influenced by film, literature and myth. Histories of displacement, ghost stories inform my work. Through this process, I am looking for overlaps and reciprocities of story and form.
