Pandemic imaginaries – video

At the start of lockdown I set up a small studio in my flat in Edinburgh. With limited space to work in, I was fascinated by the idea of working on the windows. The large scale and the potential to experiment was exciting. As the ‘border’ between lockdown existence and nature, the windows became a symbol of longing and memory. These videos are time lapse experiments. The first shows the creation of painting I Can See You from My Bubble. In my neighbourhood of traditional tenements there is not much nature save the neighbour’s lilac tree and my window boxes which became a focus while painting. In the second video the wind and sunlight through the tree bring an uncanny world of light into our locked down flat.
